Our MC and one of the many wonderful entertainers here this weekend is David Kirby. David is a spinto tenor with an amazingly flexible voice and a 3 octave range. He can sound at any point like a bass, a baritone or a tenor. Not only can he sing in a classical operatic style, but can alter the timbre of his voice to sing musical theatre, crooning, pop, country and rock and roll. There is not a genre of music that David Kirby doesn’t sing and he will certainly entertain visitors all weekend with British flair.

The British Show is pleased to announce the return of the Grand Celtic Pipe Band to our Christmas show. The Grand Celtic Pipe Band was a sure crowd favourite at the previous British Show as they played the sounds of the pipes and drums to the delight of attendees. The Grand Celtic Pipe Band will again be appearing throughout the show for all to enjoy.

The Grand Celtic Pipe Band

The Grand Celtic Pipe Band made its debut performance in 2000. Led by Pipe Major Calum MacDonald, the band consists of over forty dedicated players, from young beginners to seasoned veterans, who focus on competitive pipe band performance, improving skills, and having fun. Most are from various communities along the Grand River, after which the band is named. The band's home base is in Fergus, Ontario.

Despite its short history, the band has made an impact on the Ontario Highland Games competition circuit. In 2003 the band divided into two for competition purposes, with one in Grade 5 and the other in the more challenging Grade 4. Outside competition, the band continues to play as one ensemble.

The band wears the “Ancient MacDonald of Glenaladale” tartan, said to have belonged to Alexander MacDonald of Glenaladale at the time of Culloden, and shipped out to Canada when he and his son emigrated in 1772.

The Grand Celtic Pipe Band will be performing twice each day at the British Show at Christmas.

He went on to play Raoul in the Phantom of the Opera, Livent, Toronto; John Reid Jr. in the world premiere production Jane Eyre, Mirvish Productions, Toronto; and Charlie Dalrymple in Brigadoon, Village Light Opera, New York.
